Golden rings with mother of pearl are a real “sea miracle”. Mother of pearl is not a stone in the usual sense of the word. It is naturally the inner layer of the mussel shell, which is composed of aragonite plates. Externally it looks like pearls, but it is impossible to put an equal sign between them. A pearl is a small grain of sand that has found its way into the shell of a mussel. In response to such an “invasion”, the mollusk gradually covers it with layers of nacre, forming pearls.
